***A PRAYER FOR RAIN***
Jeremiah 14:22
Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, LORD our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this.
And so we pray…
Lord, we acknowledge that you are the giver of all good gifts and that includes rain.
God, please send rain.
And we admit our human limitations when it comes to fighting these fires, no matter how
they are caused.
God, please send rain.
Nothing escapes your notice and you know that the forests, the vegetation, the mountains, the soil really are thirsty and parched.
God, please send rain.
You know the destruction and disruption that these fires have been for so many, not only in our community but all across the state and region.
God, please send rain.
You know the number of homes that have burned, been smoked out, been damaged and those that have been preserved.
God, please send rain.
More importantly you know the people who live in them—their dreams, their hopes, their disappointments, their worries, their fears, their loves, their hearts.
God, please send rain.
It says in the first chapter of James that we do not have because we do not ask…and that we ask and do not receive because we often ask with selfish motives.
God, please send rain.
We confess any selfish motives that we have right now.
God, please send rain.
We ask that you protect the lives of those who are fighting these fires, those that have been evacuated from dangerous areas, and those who may be in the path of these flames.
God, please send rain.
We stand together with those who have lost homes, property, and even dreams and ask that you open the skies, open the clouds, open the floodgates.
God, please send rain.
We ask that your grace and your generosity would flow out of the clouds this evening, this night, this week in a cloudburst of rain, torrents of moisture, in a downpour of water.
God, please send rain.
And when the skies open and they will…we will be among the first to turn our heads to the skies and say Thank You to You…because you have answered our prayers with rain.
God, please send rain
Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, LORD our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this.
God, please send rain.
And everyone who agreed with this prayer said…AMEN!
