"We Are Home" Wall
Wow, special thanks to Layne the chalk artist & Joe for capturing the making of this wall on film. I am blown away at the skills & hearts of these two guys! http://vimeo.com/74889000
The making of the wall.....
It all starts with removing our favorite wall. But don't worry, we're moving it to somewhere AWESOME and making way for this incredible creative project..keep scrolling... (there's my little Phia helping Dylan remove the vinyl die-cut letters with a blow dryer on warm, low).
We began by covering the red paint with a matte outdoor decking paint, for coverage. Then we used Rustoleum Chalkboard paint over the top. It's a more economical way of creating a chalk-wall.
My 7 yr old snapped a blurry pic of me starting on the chalkboard paint to prep the wall, early one Sunday morning.
Here's Layne trying it out. Whoa, this will be incredible!
We tried wiping it off with a wet towel, but you can see that it's not cleaning up or ready yet. I have found that this means you still needs 2-3 more coats of chalkboard paint.
It's showtime!
We were looking through Layne's sketch ideas. They were all great - here's one sample..
Here we go! Enjoy the rest...
Layne had a plan, but freehanded this piece without any help keeping his lines straight & symmetrical. UNREAL talent! It was so fun & mind blowing watching it go up. The whole project took about 3 1/2 hrs.
STUNNING!
