Easter 2015 Stage Design
Ok, this might quite possibly be the funnest, wild set we've done & it was a TOTAL BLAST! There are a LOT of pictures, so I'll make the explanation short! We wanted to build a stage that also worked well for our next series, Stories Matter. Our team decided on a conceptual theme "reclaimed." We went looking for pieces we could "reclaim" & the concept blew up into something awesome!
Here are our initial thoughts & sketches...you know, first thoughts have a guitar player on a buffet. lol. The back drop is split it 2 options - either make giant drum lights or hang furniture.
We also liked images we found on Pinterest of furniture stacked. That totally works!
We all wanted big bold colors, so we were going for the fiesta ware colors..
Here comes some pics of furniture we gathered mostly from a Habitat for Humanity ReStore near us. We shopped for pieces with charm & character.
Next we'll paint it all. I love chalk painting because you don't need to prep the pieces. No sanding, priming, just wipe it down & go for it. BUT, most colors available are muted & earthy. Remember, we wanted bold Fiestaware. The Lowes near us helped so much & shared their recipe. Holy moly, this was the easiest thing ever & worked. Tried & true! Check out the first piece. This is one of the adorable sewing tables & my friend Maria who is now a master furniture renovator!
Get more furniture (& closet doors) & lay it out, prep for paint...
We staggered colors to be sure that we were varying them as we went..
How much do you love these two colors together!! AH!
Before & afters to love, love, love!
Now that it's painted, we moved it to the front of the stage so that we have space to build a "gallery wall" of furniture to hang.
Gallery Wall!
Here it is in real life!
